What Is the Eclipse Soundscapes Project?
During the Oct. 14, 2023, annular solar eclipse and the April 8, 2024, total solar eclipse, the Eclipse Soundscapes Project will revisit an eclipse study from almost 100 years ago, which showed that animals and insects are affected by solar eclipses. Using observations from the public, the study reported visual and acoustic changes in the natural environment.
For instance, several participants noted that near totality – the phase of an eclipse where the Sun is completely blocked – crickets began chirping as they do at dusk.

http://2024 Total Eclipse: Where & When The Monday, April 8, 2024, total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. The total solar eclipse will begin over the South Pacific Ocean. Weather permitting, the first location in continental North America that will experience totality is Mexico’s Pacific coast at around 11:07 a.m. PDT.

It was May 3, 1375 BC, when the sky was darkened by a solar eclipse in Ugarit, an ancient Syrian city controlled by the Babylonians.
On May 3, 1735 BC, the Babylonians were spectators of a solar eclipse. It was a total solar eclipse, the first documented in history, described by the astrologers of the time in a series of clay tablets. Once we are, they represent the oldest testimony of these heavenly events. The first eclipse of 1375 BC was, therefore, essential because it paved the way for the ancient peoples of Mesopotamia to the forecasting subsequent events. Millions of Americans prepare to look skyward on April 8, when the moon will pass between the sun and Earth. As daylight turns to darkness, the rare cosmic spectacle will capture widespread national attention. But there’s more than an astronomical event at play, according to University of Florida religion professor Bron Taylor, and it points to a growing movement at the nexus of nature and spirituality.
“People are on their own pilgrimages, and they’re trying to work out their meaning systems,” Taylor said. “This widespread fascination with the eclipse is a prime example of a turn toward the re-sacralization of nature.”
